About Inverters: Route sun power to your AC outlets

Inverters turn the DC power created by collecting sun power in solar panels into AC power you can use in your home to power standard appliances, electronics, etc. Here's a quick summary of how inverters work.

By taking stored energy from a battery and converting it to standard AC power, inverters allow you to run conventional appliances and tools in places without grid power or generators. Inverters are rated for their maximum continuous output in watts by the type of AC waveform they produce. Less expensive inverters deliver modified sine-wave power, which is a compromise, but it’s acceptable to most appliances.

Better inverters deliver pure sine-wave power just like utility power.
