Hayden Christensen just had a number one movie (Jumper) and is dating the adorable Rachel Bilson, so you'd think he'd be big man around Hollywood right now — clubbing, hitting premieres and flexing for paparazzo.
Think again.
The actor — known best for his role in the Star Wars films — recently told a reporter that he bought a 200-acre farm outside Toronto that produces all-organic produce. The farm also boasts a couple of hay fields and a veggie garden. And the Canada native is already benefiting telling the mag, "I'm perfecting my recipe for roast chicken. And I'm told I'm a good cook."
I'm sure Rachel could give some insight into his, um, poultry.
In other organic news, I never thought I'd see the day when the Rolling Stones were living a healthy lifestyle. But Ronnie Wood's wife, Jo, tells Female First that she made her hubby go organic and the rest of the Stones followed suit!
"The Rolling Stones used to tease me when I preached to them [about the benefits of organic]," she told the Website. "Keith Richards would say, 'Jo, you're addicted to organic food.' That made me giggle. But while he was laughing at me, his wife Patti was preparing him organic food. Mick Jagger and his ex-wife Jerry Hall eat organic now. After Charlie Watts recovered from throat cancer he really appreciated the health benefits too. I can't wait to get my hands on Penny Lancaster and Rod Stewart!"
While I think it's cool when some stars take it all off for charity (I admit I check out their bits), I'm not exactly thrilled to see Amy Winehouse, who's not exactly the sexiest creature out there, in the buff. The troubled singer stripped — covering her tatas — to raise awareness for breast cancer. The photo appears in the April issue of UK's Easy Living magazine. Couldn't she just have written a check or something?
Another "celebrity" that I'm equally creeped out by is Bindi Irwin. I don't know what it is about her — I'm sure she's a lovely little girl — but she just loves being a star so much. She reminds me a bit of Dakota Fanning, who also seems to always be in that Child Star Trance. Anyway, 9-year-old Bindi has launched a clothing line called Bindi Wear International. Each one of the more than 100 pieces in the collection have a green component and 100% of the profits go to various conservation efforts.
I guess she's not such a bad kid after all. Fingers crossed she doesn't end up like child-stars-turned-fashion designers Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen!
Lastly, I don't know if you caught Gaiam's interview with Andie MacDowell, but she's the latest in a long of celebrities coming out about their green practices. The Groundhog Day star talks about her dream of building a totally green house, driving a Prius, eating organic and much more.
