Rubber Yoga Mats

Hello-

I was thrilled to receive my "Soft Grip Premium Yoga Mat" made of renewable rubber. However, it smells like rubber! After several days of being aired out, the rubber odor is still too strong for any face to mat time. Has anyone else experienced this? Any suggestions?

Thanks!

J

I know what you are saying... as I used to be able to wash the others in my machine, but my rubber mat is too big and thick for it.
Instead I now use my bath tub in the winter months when the weather is bad, and then hang dry them in the shower. When the weather is nice I wash them either in the bath tub or outside, and then hang and air dry them outside.
Since I use a yoga rug over my mat most of the time I find that I wash the rug more often than the mat, which makes it even easier.
