YogaBody Stretch Supplement?

Namaste everyone! I have a question for those who know. . .has anyone heard anything legitimate about a supplement called YogaBody STretch?  There is an ad in the back of the Yoga Journal mag, and I was considering ordering it, but I am hesitant. ..obviously I don't want to put something harmful in my body!   The website is yogabodynaturals.com, and the founder is a guy named Lucas Rockwood who is supposed to have been a raw food chef in NYC for years, teaches Yoga overseas and claims that this supplement really helps people get very "bendy". . .it contains green foods, MSM, vitamin C and trace minerals. . .all of which I already take, but reading some of the testimonials on his site makes me wonder, you know?  And he has a lot of common sense advice, like eating raw foods helps flexibility, green foods help, etc. . .I have send e-mails to Yoga Journal (still waiting for response), Yogafit, BaronBaptiste.com, YahwehYoga.com, and none of the last 3 mentioned have ever heard of him. . .so I ask the Gaiam community. . .surely has someone heard of this guy or this product?  If it is legitmate, it certainly could simplify my supplements, etc. . .you know?  And who doesn't want to be more flexible?  He also sends out a Yoga body handbook with purchase and some other free advice, so I am intrigued. . anyone know anything?

Thanks in advance!

Hi... Just thought I'd respond... I've not heard of this guy but I do believe that anyone that needs to have a website like that one has is using (there is a company that builds them for you for a percentage, it's actually sort of a pyramid scheme deal and they have many, many pages for many, many kinds of supplements) is simply partaking in what is called the 'passive income' industry.  I'm a healthcare practitioner and let me tell you sometimes it is very tempting to jump off into the supplement realm because it is really a nice form of passive income. Unfortunately, as I read this guys website and testimonials a couple of things came to mind... one testimonial stated they had been doing yoga for "two solid months' with no improvement... hmm, well, correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't think yoga was about accomplishment, I thought it was about deepening and unifyng with your body... I'm going to guess that's more than a two month process.  Also, this guy states that yoga is a demonstration of flexibility not a development of flexibility... yikes. Seems again to have missed the boat on yoga but not missed the boat on good old american consumerism.  As a nutrition practitioner I would say there doesn't seem to be anything harmful in what he is selling, however, you state that you're already taking similar supplements. If you are missing key micronutrients in your daily diet then food grade supplements can be highly beneficial, if you aren't then they just give you expensive urine.  I believe that really there is no 'miracle' body supplement... there's simply patience, eating right, self reflection and being present to what is showing up everyday. Hope that helps you make an informed decision.  Namaste

‘Sacred travel’ lets you re-create yourself at spiritual hotspots

Love to travel but no longer content with South Beach or Vail? There is another option available. A number of years ago, I wanted a trip that was based on personal growth and discovery. Today this is called “sacred travel.” (Back then it was about taking my savings and heading out with a backpack.) I first [...]

One flight = HOW much CO2?! Slashing my holiday footprint …

I did the math in my head. We have one car that barely gets driven, a TV and DVD player that get unplugged when not in use, plus a diet free of meat — and I have to admit that I was feeling a bit overconfident when I plugged my numbers into the carbon calculator [...]

How to make fabric gift bags

A website I visited recently recommended knitting holiday stockings. What a lovely idea, I thought. But I’d have to remember how to knit … I think I’ll just buy some “homespun” stockings instead. Yet there is a simple project I did one year for the holidays that was very rewarding in the same way [...]

Detox yoga how-to sequence

Detoxing after the holiday “re-tox” — no matter how much carnage was left on that Thanksgiving dinner table, or how much stress crept into your weekend — is as easy as unrolling your mat. No matter when or on what level you could use a little realigning, this sequence is for you. Follow the how-to and [...]

Stairs till you drop! Mall shoppers are stepping up

I recently read an article about a mall in England that posted colorful, stand-out signs by the escalator/stairs in the mall last Christmas to encourage and inspire shoppers to take the stairs instead of the escalators. The article noted that “normally, about 4 percent of people at the mall take the stairs but after adding [...]

Stressed? Don’t work out longer; just shake things up

Many people think that tons of rigorous workouts help relieve stress. But research shows that it can actually have the opposite effect. Changing up your routine can ease stress more effectively than doing MORE of the same. You can change your workout routine in many ways including … When doing fat-burning workouts, change the settings, machine or [...]

Be first on your block to get a farmer

We all need a farmer. Someone who who looks us in the eye when she tells us how she feeds her animals, or how can’t offer eggs this week because the free-range hens have laid the eggs somewhere she can’t find them ...

How gratitude can transform your body

Thinking about Thanksgiving prompted me to write this blog. I saved it to my computer planning to enter it online as soon as I got a chance. Then coincidently I heard a radio interview with psychologist Robert Emmons, author of a book called Thanks. Emmons has spent years studying positive psychology, and in the interview [...]
